Running to Slim by Sara
I’ve always been big, always the one in the room! I was brought up to finish everything on my plate before I could have desert or leave the table. This taught me to eat till it was all gone rather than when I was full and I’ve always had a problem with portion size as a result! I’d often finish off my husbands meals just because I liked the taste of it rather than believe I was full up!
I’ve tried to lose weight in the past and have always managed a small amount but given up as soon as there was something to tempt me!
I had my first son in 2011 and my weight soared by 4stone (56lbs) I lost 1/2 of it and started to gain some confidence! I had my second son in 2013 and put the 2 stone back on again! In October the same year I decided I needed to get body confident as I didn’t want my insecurities about my weight to filter into my children’s lives! I’d heard stories about mothers, smaller than me, being embarrassed about getting stuck on slides at the playground and did not want that to be me! I joined a gym and a local slimming group with some friends and haven’t looked back since! With the support of my family, friends and especially my husband I have managed to get down to my pre pregnancy weight in about 9months and have really started to enjoy the exercise side of things, as a result I have entered into a 10k race early 2015 which is something the old me would never have considered!

Thanks for giving me some inspiration to lose weight. I used to run when I was younger, but now I’ve been very lazy…
