Kody
Like most people, I have struggled with weight my entire life. I have been skinny, I have been average, I have been fat, and I have been pretty much everything in between. But, in August of 2010 I hit an all time low…Or high, depending on how you look at it. There I stood 25 years old, 6’ 3” tall, and 292 pounds. I used every excuse I could to justify it, but there wasn’t a day that went by that it didn’t weigh on my mind.
I still remember the day that my life changed. I was sitting in my room looking at my high school yearbooks, like I did from time to time, and all of the sudden I realized that the person in those pictures was not only skinnier…But healthier and happier. Something just snapped. That was the day that I “put the fork down” and to be honest, it has been a struggle everyday since.
From September 2010 to September 2011 I lost 82 pounds. Sounds so easy on paper right? NO…It took me one full year to reach my goal. It was a huge struggle. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life, but the feeling of accomplishment I felt on the day I weighed in at my goal weight of 210 pounds was priceless. It transformed me not only physically, but as a person. It Made me stronger, more confident, and most importantly…Happy.
So….Thats the end of the story right? You lose some weight, feel good, and your life turns into one giant MTV spring break commercial? Ha, probably sounds great in your head. Even after the initial success, it doesn’t mean that the battle is over. It takes a steady effort to stay in shape, and to stay healthy. Maybe it turns from losing weight to building some muscle so you can look good for summer. Maybe It’s just eating healthy. That is why we are here. To share, to listen, to learn.
